Free Catholic Ebook Sites – Grow in your faith during social distancing!

It may end up that many of us will be working from home and “social distancing” for six to eight weeks. (update— LONGER??!?) So here is the question, what are some ways that I can continue to grow in faith while I’m stuck inside and not be overrun by social media and endless depressing news. During this time, it is essential that we feed our faith and not give in to the darkness of fear. Here are some sites I’ve come across. Feel free to add more in the comments section.

Formed.org

If you haven’t checked out this resource yet, you are missing out on a lot. This site is from the Augustine Institute and has many ebooks, movies, audiobooks and studies. This includes many newer popular Catholic works. Odds are, you parish already has a subscription for all their parishioners. Click the picture above and enter in your parishes zip code and begin exploring all the great material!

Amazon.com

I have done a search, sorting by price of books under the category “Catholicism”… You have to be careful with these as some are not the greatest theology, but there are some really great books as well. And as always… make sure you use Amazon Smile so when you buy stuff your giving half a percent back to your church or school!

Project Gutenberg

This is one of my favorite websites. I’ve found the best way to follow this one through is to know the author you are looking for. Project Gutenberg take books that are in the public domain and makes them available in various formats.

The above is just a limited search. Let me know in the comments if you find any other gems. Basically anything written before 1930 can be found on this site!

Traditional Catholic Books

This blog has quite a large selection of free Catholic ebooks that have been brought from various websites. Like all of these sites listed sometimes the formatting in some of these free books leaves a lot wanting.

And if one list was not enough, they later did a continuation of a second post of even more Catholic works.

The Catholic Ebook Project

This is a helpful blog that has done a alphabetical list of many Catholic books across the internet. Worth a look.

Christian Classics Ethereal Library

This is another great index of public domain books. This is not an exclusively Catholic site. But remember, once you go far enough back on the classics… They were all Catholic!

Internet Sacred Text Archive

Now keep in mind this site is made by a non-religious group, Archive.org. So their definition of religion is a strictly historical definition. Meaning this book can give you anything from UFOs to Alchemy to Christianity. I strongly advise you stick to the Christianity section.

LibreVox: Free Ebooks

There is a large selection of Christian Ebooks on LibreVox. Here I have linked Biographies. You can search their site for many more!

Bonus: Carlo Acutis Life Beyond the Border

Since you stuck with me to the end. It’s appropriate as a techy to give a shout out to the soon to be patron Saint of Nerds… Carlo Acutis with this free book available on Amazon. Click the image above!
